Watch a short video Elevate Eyewear to Fashion Statement

As I age, I've come to realize that wearing prescription eyewear is a necessity for me. However, I found that contact lenses were not a practical solution for my needs, as I have one eye that is nearsighted and the other that is farsighted. Additionally, I was concerned about the potential damage to both my eyes and contacts that could occur from wearing makeup.

To overcome these challenges, I've decided to make my eyewear a fashion statement. I choose frames that enhance my appearance and make me look good. I'm always looking for new and different styles that reflect my personal style.

To keep up with my ever-changing tastes, I change my eyewear as often as the seasons change. My relationship with eyewear has become an art form. I enjoy finding new frames, modifying existing frames to fit my prescription, and experimenting with different lens tints.

Recently, I found a local eyewear specialist, Mark, who owns Leisure World Opticians in Silver Spring, Maryland. He's just a short ten-minute drive from my home and he has been a great resource for me. He can fill my prescription, change out my lenses, and adjust the tint on my lenses to my desired preference. He's skilled and has both aesthetic and technical expertise to get the job done.

I hope my experience and tips help you, my comrades aging into your seasoned years, when you're looking for your next pair of eyeglasses. Remember, it's important to choose frames that complement your face shape, lenses that suit your needs, and to always consider cost-cutting options.

When it comes to eyewear, there are a few key factors to consider: frames, lenses, and cost. In this blog post, we'll take a look at the best eyewear frames, lenses, and cost-cutting options available to help you make an informed decision when purchasing eyewear.

Frames:

When it comes to frames, there are a few things to consider. First, the material of the frame. Metal frames are lightweight, durable, and hypoallergenic, making them a great choice for those with sensitive skin. Plastic frames are also lightweight and durable, but they can be more flexible and less expensive than metal frames.

Another thing to consider is the shape and size of the frame. The shape of the frame should complement the shape of your face. For example, if you have a round face, you'll want to choose frames that have a more angular shape, such as square or rectangular frames. If you have a square face, you'll want to choose frames that have a more rounded shape, such as oval or round frames.

Lenses:

When it comes to lenses, there are a few things to consider. First, the type of lens. There are several types of lenses available, including single vision, bifocal, and progressive. Single vision lenses are used for distance or reading, bifocals are used for distance and reading, and progressive lenses are used for distance, reading, and everything in between.

Another thing to consider is the material of the lens. Glass lenses are the most durable, but they can be heavy and can break easily. Plastic lenses are lightweight and durable, but they can scratch more easily than glass lenses.

Cost Cutting Options:

When it comes to cost, there are a few things to consider. One cost-cutting option is to purchase eyewear online. Online retailers typically offer lower prices than brick-and-mortar stores because they don't have the overhead costs associated with physical stores.

Another cost-cutting option is to purchase frames and lenses separately. By purchasing frames and lenses separately, you can choose the best frames and lenses for your needs, while keeping costs low.

You can also consider buying from discount stores that carry brand names and usually sell them at a lower price, or buy from retailers that offer discounts for bulk purchases.

In conclusion, when it comes to eyewear, there are a lot of options to consider, including frames, lenses, and cost. By considering the best frames, lenses, and cost-cutting options available, you can make an informed decision when purchasing eyewear and ensure that you're getting the best value for your money. Don't forget to consult with an optometrist to ensure you are getting the right prescription and the most suitable lens for your needs.
